Cathy Yenca has been a mathematics teacher for 15 years.   Her experiences include teaching 7th graders in the Easton Area School District for 6 years, and serving as a math coach/specialist and mathematics teacher in the Bethlehem Area School District for 4 years, working with 6th, 7th and 8th graders and their teachers.  Both districts, which are located in eastern Pennsylvania, serve thousands of children in diverse, urban communities.  While working part-time during her 3 years as a stay-at-home-mom, Cathy served as a mathematics instructor at Penn State, Lehigh Valley, working with at-risk high school students in a summer and Saturday enrichment program affiliated with the Private Industry Council.  She also taught high school SAT Preparation Mathematics classes through Penn State.  In March 2012, Cathy transitioned to Eanes Independent School District in Austin, Texas, where she serves as a middle school mathematics teacher.  She is thrilled to be a part of the one-to-one iPad initiative at Hill Country Middle School.

Cathy has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Secondary Education/Mathematics.  She earned her Master of Science in Education from Wilkes University of Pennsylvania in the area of Classroom Technology.  She is a proud member of the Apple Distinguished Educator Class of 2013.

Cathy is passionate about mathematics education, especially with regard to middle school students.  She has recently started blogging about her classroom experiences with iPads here.  Through her own teaching ventures, as well as coaching and mentoring other teachers, she has developed a library of successful curriculum materials based on students’ needs.  Many of her works are featured here in her online MathyCathy “store” on TeachersPayTeachers.com.
